Neural Network ASIC Designer

Role description

In this role, you will work closely with the CTO to design high-level hardware architectures for novel neural network accelerators. You will also work in concert with the neural network development team to design well-matched hardware architectures and neural networks that are energy efficient and competitively performant on commercially valuable tasks.

About you

You are an experienced chip designer looking for something different. You have experience with the entire chip design flow. You have been instrumental at the architecture-level, but you have also done physical-level design. You are eager to build new architectures and try new agile design methodologies and flows. You are excited about the burgeoning AI accelerator space but chagrined to find that many emerging architectures end up looking very similar. You are eager to look beyond the traditional borders of hardware design to find new architectural ideas.

Responsibilities

Help develop high-level architecture for a novel neural network accelerator
Drive the IC design process that leads to a tape out of the accelerator
Contribute to the development of an agile hardware design workflow

Qualifications

Required:

Designed, taped-out, and tested ASICs on a small team where everyone had to do a bit of everything
Expertise in hardware architecture
Proficiency in HDL languages like Verilog and VHDL
Proficiency in C++ and Python
Proficiency in physical design and verification
Excellent technical communication skills and ability to collaborate
MS/PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Ideal:

Experience writing chip generators in “meta-HDL” languages like Chisel and SystemC
Experience with high-level synthesis (HLS)
Familiarity with deep learning algorithms and ML accelerators
Experience in designing on-chip interconnection networks
Experience with asynchronous digital logic
